I spent many teenage and college years encountering the following scene:
I'm sitting on a sofa reading a book. My mother would walk through the room and turn on the lamp next to me so I wouldn't ruin my eyes.
I just did that to N.

We all do it!
My Mum used to have this saying, "I'm cold, put your cardigan on." And yes, I did find myself saying it.
What will really be freaky is when B comes to visit you and N someday, and he does it to you all...
I think if it worked on us we tend to use it on children ourselves.
What's been amusing me this year is that I keep finding myself and my middle-aged friends (most of whom are several years older than me, as in mid fifties or older) saying stuff that I have to mentally add, "back in my day..." to. We are becoming our parents and grandparents, alright!
LOL
Yep. I don't have children to do it to, but I find it coming out in other ways.
